Abu Dhabi Trip.

I’m back!

The trip was nice. Been socializing and learning from my peers and mentors…  Social Media is a fascinating field :)

Let’s get to the fun part.

I had a list of restaurants to go to but I only managed to go to 3 which is pretty good given that the conference finishes at 5 pm and I sleep at 9 pm :)

The list:

  1. Mezzaluna @ The Emirates Palace
  2. Frankie’s @ Fairmont
  3. Prego @ Beach Rottana Hotel
  4. Certo @ Souq Qaryat Al Berri
  5. Finz @ Beach Rottana hotel
  6. Vacso’s @ Hilton’s Beach Club

I’ll leave you with pictures:

1. Vacso’s

Seafood Salad: A green salad, with a light tangy vinaigrette.

Veggie Pizza: There really wasn’t anything special about it, but I loved the addition of capers. I think I’ll do that the next time I make pizza.

2. Finz

Lobster Bisque: This must be one of THE BEST dishes I’ve ever tasted… Definitely going to make it soon.

it’s made with lobster tails, onions, tomatoes, Black pepper, I tasted fish sauce as well, a bit of cream, a dash of nutmeg and butter of course :)

It has a hint of sweetness in it so I’m guessing it included carrots. If you’re in Abu Dhabi, YOU DEFINITELY HAVE TO TRY THIS DISH

Main Dish: Catch of the day, with Beurre Blanc Sauce

I’m… In love <3

it’s a vinegar/white wine reduction with butter.. the translation is simply white butter. This is the non alcoholic version

They way it’s done:

  1. around 1 cup of white wine.
  2. 1/4 cup of white grape vinegar or any other vinegar of your preference.
  3. 2 sticks of butter
  4. Finely chopped onions
  5. Herbs (optional)

In a hot pot: pour the vinegar, white wine and onions and let the liquids reduce in size. Reduce the heat and whisk in the butter until its all creamy and delicious. It works pretty well with all types of seafood and veggies.

Loved the lemon idea.

Orange Creme Brulee with Caramelized Orange on top.

Overall experience: Spectacular!

3. Certo

You start with a lovely ciabatta bread with roasted garlic and a veggie dip. the dip consists mainly of pureed zucchinis, black pepper, salt and cream. Very yummy!

Main dish: Duck ravioli with cheese fondue sauce and truffle oil.. see the fried strings on top? those are the annoying celery fibers that I hated before… Totally love the texture it added and the phenomenal taste. This dish was seriously delicious.. I’m glad I ended my trip with it :)

I ended my day with Galler’s Chocolate tea. I’m not sure whether I like it or not! It had a strange bitter flavor that I kind of liked but it isn’t something I’d order again.. just like frog legs and escargot. Well, more like frog legs… I loved escargot :)

Overall experience:

It was a good trip. I’d definitely go back to Finz and Certo. Not a big fan of Vasco’s, although mom’s hamour fish was good.

I’m glad I went to the conference. Was able to meet many interesting people.

Come back again for more recipes. I’m restocking my pantry and fridge tomorrow :)

Bon Appetit!
