Portabella Burger

It’s tasty, easy to make and very light! did I mention how easy it was to make it? It’s REALLY easy. You just need to assemble the ingredients.


  1. Fresh Burger buns. Took mine from Geant’s bakery. They also have brown buns
  2. Avocado
  3. Lemon juice
  4. Salt and pepper
  5. Paprika, cumin (if needed)
  6. Lebnah or sour cream (I love lebnah)
  7. Knorr’s french onion soup mix
  8. Onions
  9. Maple Syrup


  1. In a pan, saute onions with a splash of olive oil and a pinch of salt. when they’re wilted, add as much maple syrup as you want.. let it cook until onions are soft and sweet.
  2. Mix couple of table spoons of lebnah with a bit of dry onion soup mix and set it aside. This is my secret mix :), Great as a stand alone dip, AMAZING with grilled veggie sandwich and you can use it with almost every sandwich that’s missing the WOW factor.
  3. Mash the avocado and mix it with salt, pepper, paprika and a tiny pinch of cumin.
  4. Remove the stem from the mushroom, lightly season it with salt and pepper and grill it using a pan. I always use a ribbed pan. couple of minutes on each side. If its not a non stick pan, spray it with olive oil before grilling.
  5. When the mushroom is grilled already, cut the bun in half and slightly toast them oven the pan.
  6. For the layering: spread the lebnah mix first, then place the mushroom on top of it. Add 1-2 TBS of onions on top.
  7. Last step: Spread the avocados on the other half of the bun and place it on top of the onions. You’re done :)

The bun I used was soo delicious and fresh. It’s very important to have fresh ingredients. Makes a lot of difference in taste :)

    Just one question , if you may. Does the onion soup mix taste good? I don’t like onion soup at all, even though I love caramelized onions. So how does the dry mix taste like in this recipe?

    It tastes great :). like the less oily version of onion rings, with the a bit of tang from the lebnah. you have to try it to get what I mean :), I sometimes add paprika to the mix.

  4. I’ve been planning to make ur burger for 2 days now, but life gets in the way… I told my friends they’re all tasting it this Friday… and no excuses… and i told them abt the lana mix, everyone was like ohh, ahhh, and allah :)

    I usually get my portabella from Geant since it’s close by, but try lulu hyper market. I’ve never seen such a collection of mushrooms in Kuwait. they even have blue mushrooms can you believe it?!
